Wheaton Equestrian Team
The Wheaton College Equestrian team is the longest continuously active student-run club on campus. Our team is inclusive and allows riders with any experience to join the team. We are part of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, which allows us to compete and show off the skills we have honed through our lessons.
Our goal is $4,000. This is an expensive sport, and some people may not be able to afford it. As a team, we want the experience of riding to be available for everyone. Team members may be able to afford one semester but encounter money difficulties and not be able to afford another semester. The money donated to us will allow us to be more flexible with our dues and, as the team gets larger, we could make them cost less. Having $4,000 will allow us to make going to Nationals much less expensive for future riders who qualify. A few years ago, an alumna qualified for Nationals and she had to pay out of pocket, which was very expensive. Because of the financial burden, she was the only one who went. Nationals is a great experience, not just for the rider who qualifies. It would not give all parties involved more experience, and it would put Wheaton in the spotlight!
